Volleyball Falls to Reinhardt
ATHENS, Tenn. — Tennessee Wesleyan went toe-to-toe with conference leader Reinhardt on Friday night, showing grit and determination before falling 3–1 in a hard-fought Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup inside Robb Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (16–7, 8–3 AAC) handed Reinhardt one of its toughest tests of the season, using a balanced offensive effort and resilient defense to push the undefeated Eagles to the limit in each of the opening three sets.
Junior outside hitter Amya Sutton led the charge with 17 kills and a team-high 17.5 points, while Alley Hibdon added seven kills and 18 assists in a strong all-around performance. Nyah Hudson contributed seven kills and three blocks, helping TWU control the net through long rallies.
After dropping the opening set 25–21, the Bulldogs fought back with a late push in the second. Sutton and Savannah Jones delivered key kills to cut the deficit to 21–20 before Reinhardt narrowly closed it out, 25–20.
Tennessee Wesleyan refused to back down, dominating the third set with their best rhythm of the night. Behind steady serving from Talynn Wheeler and quick sets from Hibdon, TWU hit .184 as a team and rolled to a 25–16 win. The Bulldogs' defense, anchored by Megan Thompson with a match-high 28 digs, stifled Reinhardt's hitters throughout the frame.
Though the fourth set slipped away late, Tennessee Wesleyan's effort showcased the depth and toughness that have kept the Bulldogs among the AAC's top teams.
