No. 3 Women's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight AAC Regular Season Title
ATLANTA, Ga.- The women's tennis team clinched the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Regular Season Title for the fourth straight season on Friday. The team won 4-3 aganst No. 6 SCAD Atlanta to finish the conference season undefeated.
The team went into the singles matches trailing as SCAD Atlanta won the doubles point to lead 1-0. Honoka Tsuji and Laia Berne were the only duo to win a doubles match, winning the third spot 6-3.
In the race to four points, the Lady Bulldogs used singles wins by Olivia Alcala, Tsuji, Ana Serrano, and Margarita Tatur to win the match. Alcala won the No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0, Tsuji won the No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-1, Serrano won the No. 5 singles 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, and Tatur won the No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-2. Serrano was the match-clinching point for TWU.
The win moved the team's record to 15-1 overall and 8-0 in the AAC. TWU will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming AAC Tournament. The tournament is April 20-22 at Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
