COLUMBIA, S.C.- The women's soccer team played their final road game of the regular season on Saturday, an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game against Columbia International University. TWU scored two goals in the second half to win the game 2-0.
Even though neither team scored in the first half, offense was the name of the game as the teams combined for 14 shots in the first 45 minutes. Addison Smith had the first two attempts for the Lady Bulldogs to go along with shots by Valerie Koopman, Stina Braun, Jenna Vest, and Olivia Miller. Ana Martinez had two of her three saves in the first half to help the game remain scoreless.
Tennessee Wesleyan broke through in the 60th minute. Kyndal Stafford scored the first goal of her career off an assist by Valerie Koopman to push the team ahead 1-0. Another first-time goal scorer, Estefania Garro, added an insurance goal in the 78th minute.
The win pushes the Lady Bulldogs' record to 10-2 overall and 9-2 in the AAC.
