CLEVELAND, Tenn.- The women's soccer team came out on the wrong end of a top-25 showdown on Wednesday. The 25th-ranked Lady Bulldogs fell to the No. 15 Truett McConnell University Lady Bears 1-0 on the road.
Through the first 45 minutes of play in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game, neither defense gave an inch. The scoreboard showed a scoreless tie as the teams went to halftime.
The strong defensive play continued until the 62nd minute of play. The opponents scored a goal at that time point to take the first lead of the game. Tennessee Wesleyan was not able to find a goal to tie the game though, falling for the first time this season.
Up next for the Lady Bulldogs (4-1, 3-1 AAC) is the team's first-ever game against Spartanburg Methodist College on Saturday. The team will face the newcomers to the conference at 12:00 p.m.
