ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's soccer team played their first home game of the season on Saturday. No. 24 Tennessee Wesleyan left the TWU Athletic Complex with a 4-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win against the Johnson University Lady Royals.
Stina Braun scored the first of two goals in the first half for the Lady Bulldogs. The goal occurred 2:58 into the game as Addison Smith found Braun in the box, pushing TWU ahead 1-0. Smith played a part in another goal, this time scoring for the Lady Bulldogs in the 21st minute to give the team a 2-0 lead they took into halftime.
Tennessee Wesleyan extended the lead in the 65th minute. The goal to move the lead to three goals came off the foot of Julia Starchl off Valerie Koopman's pass. Lisa Kirwan added the final insurance goal in the 72nd minute, helping the team to the 4-0 win.
Ana Martinez had three saves in the net.
TWU (4-0, 3-0 AAC) will travel to play No. 16 Truett McConnell University for their next conference tilt. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
