Women's Soccer Moves Past Milligan

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn.- The women's soccer team added a win to their record on Wednesday. Five goals helped the 24th-ranked Lady Bulldogs beat the Milligan University Lady Buffaloes 5-2 on the road. 

The first goal of the game went to Milligan as they scored in the 15th minute of the game. TWU scored the next four, including two in the remaining minutes of the first half. Valerie Koopman tied the game in the 37th minute. Stina Braun gave the Lady Bulldogs the lead with 26 seconds remaining in the half, scoring on a Koopman assist to make the score 2-1 at the halftime break.

Five minutes into the second half, Braun recorded her second goal of the game, this time off a Marta Hernan assist,  to move the team's lead to 3-1. An insurance goal by Iara Tello in the 61st minute pushed the score to 4-1. Addison Smith turned Lisa Kirwan's pass into the team's fifth goal of the game with eight minutes remaining, cementing the three-goal margin. 

Ana Martinez had five saves in the net.

Tennessee Wesleyan (3-0, 2-0 AAC) will play their first game on their home field on Saturday as they host Johnson University. The AAC game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
