WALESKA, Ga.- The women's lacrosse team fell in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Semifinals on Friday. The No. 3 seed Lady Bulldogs fell to the second seeded Reinhardt University Lady Eagles 21-8.
After falling behind 3-0, TWU got on the board with a goal by Elizabeth Pluta off an assist by Kylie Heinrich. The team was not able to turn that into a scoring spree though as Reinhardt scored the next seven goals to take a 10-1 advantage. A goal by Aava Downey in the second quarter put the score at 13-2 at halftime.
A comeback was not in the cards for the Lady Bulldogs as they only scored two goals in the third quarter. Those two goals came from Pluta and Kate Buchanan. Tennessee Wesleyan scored the final four goals of the game though, scoring off the sticks of Heinrich, Olivia Downey (2), and Jozlyn Long.
The team finishes the season with a 14-6 overall record and a 4-2 AAC record. The 14 wins are the most in program history.
