Women's Lacrosse Blasts Truett McConnell
ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's lacrosse team won their tenth game of the season on Wednesday. The team beat the Truett McConnell University Lady Bears 21-4 in the Biggs Memorial Game.
The game started off with back-to-back goals by Olivia Downey. After a goal by Truett McConnell, TWU scored the next two goals off the sticks of America Barajas and Elizabeth Pluta. The Lady Bulldogs ended the first quarter leading 6-2 after consecutive goals by Kylie Heinrich and Kate Buchanan.
Pluta and Buchanan grew the lead to 8-2 before the next goal by the opponents. Tennessee Wesleyan scored the final six goals of the second quarter to lead 14-3 at halftime. Aava Downey started the scoring streak and was followed by Buchanan, O. Downey, Barajas, Jacie Bomar, and Pluta.
The scoring streak continued into the third quarter as the team scored the only three goals of the quarter. Pluta scored the first goal and Jozlyn Long scored the second. Heinrich ended the scoring in the quarter, moving the team's lead to 17-3.
The scoring streak ended with nine consecutive goals as the team scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter. Heinrich started the fourth quarter the end she ended the third, scoring the team's 18th goal. A. Downey moved the lead to 19-3 while Stephanie Rocha gave the team their 20th goal of the contest. Buchanan scored the goal to give the team the 21-4 win.

This is the first double-digit win season for the women's lacrosse team since 2018.
TWU (10-3) will be back in action on Wednesday to face No. 2 University of the Cumberlands in a home conference game at 12:00 p.m.
