Women's Lacrosse Falls in AAC Opener to No. 4 Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga.- The women's lacrosse team played their first Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game of the season on Wednesday. The team fell to No. 4 Reinhardt University 13-5.

Elizabeth Pluta got the team on the board, making the score 2-1 with six minutes left in the first quarter. TWU did not score again in the quarter as Reinhardt took a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.

The opponents opened the second quarter with a goal. Olivia Downey scored back-to-back goals to bring the the Lady Bulldogs within two goals of the 5-3 score. Reinhardt closed the second quarter with two goals to lead 7-3 at halftime.

Out of halftime, the hole grew deeper as the opponents scored the first two goals of the third quarter. Pluta put another goal in the net for Tennessee Wesleyan, but the team went into the fourth quarter trailing 10-4 after a third Reinhardt goal in the quarter.

One more goal was not enough for the Lady Bulldogs to get back in the game. Pluta scored the goal for the team as they fell 13-5. 

Rylee Brendlinger finished with 17 saves in the net.

TWU (8-3, 0-1 AAC) returns home for their Senior Day contest against Warren Wilson College on Saturday. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
