Women's Lacrosse Slash Warren Wilson on Senior Day

ATHENS, Tenn.- The women's lacrosse team honored their seniors on Saturday. The team did so with a 23-3 win against the Warren Wilson College Lady Owls. 

On their way to an 11-1 lead after the first quarter, TWU scored the first eight goals. Kylie Heinrich scored four of the first five, including three straight. Olivia Downey had one of the goals in between. Downey's second goal of the quarter made the score 6-0 while Jozlyn Long and Heinrich scored to get the team to 8-0. Kate Buchanan, Long, and Heinrich each scored to get the team to their 11-1 lead.

Jacie Bomar started the scoring in the second quarter with a goal 57 seconds into the quarter. Elizabeth Pluta and Heinrich scored the only other two goals for the team in the quarter and the Lady Bulldogs led 14-2 at halftime.

The third quarter saw the team score only two goals. Downey scored the first of the two goals while Caylor Christman scored the second goal. Tennessee Wesleyan held a 16-3 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Aava Downey started the scoring in a seven-goal fourth quarter for the Lady Bulldogs. Heinrich and Pluta followed with goals, moving the lead to 19-3. O. Downey and Stephanie Rocha scored the next two for the team and A. Downey and Pluta scored the final two goals in the team's 23-3 win.

Rylee Brendlinger got the win in the net. Heinrich's eight goals in the game were a career-high.

TWU (9-3) will jump back into conference play on Wednesday against Truett McConnell University in the Biggs Memorial Game at 2:00 p.m.
