Home Run Helps Softball Split Against Bryan

ATHENS, Tenn.- The softball team split their Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) doubleheader on Friday. The team came back to win the second game against the Bryan College Lady Lions 4-3.

Game One:

In the first game, a defensive struggle ensued. There were only three runs scored in the game. Unfortunately, Bryan scored all three of them, and the Lady Bulldogs were not able to turn hits by Macy Chastain or a walk by Jazmyn Wright into a run.

Game Two:

In the second game, the team came back from a deficit twice. The first time was in the fourth inning when the team was trailing 1-0.

Chastain opened the bottom of the fourth inning with a walk. After stealing second, Chastain scored on a single up the middle by Olivia McNabb, tying the score 1-1. The second and final comeback occurred in the sixth inning.

The opponents scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to move ahead 3-1. In the bottom of the sixth inning, with Tatum Massengale and McNabb on base after walks, Brooke Freeman came to the plate and hit a home run to push the team 4-3.

McNabb had five strikeouts in the circle while Isabella Jenkins was credited with the win.
