Softball Unable to Quell Truett McConnell

ATHENS, Tenn.- The softball team fell in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) doubleheader on Saturday. The team fell in both games to the Truett McConnell University Lady Bears. 

Game One:

A wild pitch gave the Lady Bulldogs the first lead of the game in the second inning. Taylor Rose, who opened the inning with a single then stole second and moved to third on Isabella Jenkins single, sored on the wild pitch. Truett McConnell took the lead in the fourth inning, and added a run to their lead in the fifth inning. 

In the bottom of the fifth, TWU got one of the runs back. With the bases loaded, a hit by pitch on Allie Shaver brought in Katie Willet to make the score 3-2. Truett McConnell scored a run in the top of the seventh and the Lady Bulldogs were not able to to find matching run, falling in the first game 4-2. 

Game Two:

Unlike the first game, Tennessee Wesleyan trailed first. The opponents held a 3-0 lead after the third inning. Ali Richards got on base in with a single in the bottom of the third but the the third out of the inning was recorded before a run came to fruition. The remaining hit for the Lady Bulldogs occurred in the fourth inning, a single by Tatum Massengale. The team was not able to find the runs to extend the game.
