Softball Falls to Georgia Gwinnett

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.- The softball team went on the road on Sunday to play a doubleheader against the Georgia Gwinnett College Lady Grizzlies. The team was not able to find a footing on offense as the team fell 8-0 and 3-0 in the doubleheader.

Game One:

Though the team recorded the first hit of the game on a Tatum Massengale single, the Lady Bulldogs were not able to turn the hit into a run. Georgia Gwinnett took a 2-0 lead after the bottom of the first inning. Taylor Rose earned a walk in the second inning but the offense came up empty again. The remaining base running opportunities for the team came on an Ashley Allen walk and a second single by Massengale.

Olivia McNabb had two strikeouts in the circle in relief.

Game Two:

Brooklyn Deaver was the first hit of the game for the Lady Bulldogs, hitting a single in the top of the first inning. Trailing 2-0, McKenna Kee got on base with a single in the second inning, but the inning ended before the team could get on the scoreboard. Kee would have a second hit in the game, a single to center field, but the remaining batters in the fifth inning all recorded outs. Allie Shaver tried to get the offense going with a single in the sixth inning, but the team was unable to make a dent in the score, falling in the game 3-0.

Haydan Copely had two strikeouts in the circle for TWU.

Up next for TWU (5-11) is a home conference doubleheader against Bryan College on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
