No. 2 Men's Tennis Wins Sixth Straight AAC Regular Season Title
ATLANTA, Ga.- The men's tennis team clinched their sixth consecutive Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Regular Season Title on Friday. The team beat No. 23 SCAD Atlanta 5-2 to finish with a perfect conference record.
TWU took the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches to net the doubles point. Lucas Grana and Lucas Perez won the No. 1 doubles 6-4 while David Leon and Nicolas Cortes Campos Maceo Simpson won the No. 3 doubles 6-3.
The remaining four points in the win came from the No. 1, No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 singles. Serafin Zund won the No. 1 match 6-1, 6-1, Grana took the No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-1 and Asier Pascual clinched the match with the fourth point, winning the No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-1. Lucas Perez added the insurance point with a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 6 singles.
The win moved the team's record to 16-2 overall and 7-0 in the AAC. The team will be the No. 1 seed in the AAC Tournament. The tournament is set for April 20-22 at Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
