PIKEVILLE, Ky.- A great season for the men's soccer team ended on Friday. The team fell in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Quarterfinals against the University of Pikeville Bears 3-2.
Tennessee Wesleyan took the first lead of the game in the 26th minute. David Tayau sent a ball into the box from the sideline that Charlie Wood connected with and sent into the net, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. By the end of the half though, Pikeville had taken the lead, scoring in the 36th and 44th minutes.
The hole grew deeper in the 76th minute as the Bears scored again. A penalty kick in the 82nd minute, converted successfully by Nicko Bellot, pulled TWU within one goal of the lead. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were not able find the equalizing goal before the end of regulation.
Tennessee Wesleyan finishes the season with an 8-8-1 overall record.
