ATHENS, Tenn.- The men's soccer team saw a tale of two different halves play out in a 3-2 loss on Wednesday. The team fell to the University of Pikeville Bears in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game.
The first half belonged to the Bulldogs. The Jekyll of halves started with a goal for TWU in the eighth minute. Francesco Conti completed a bicycle kick goal off the ricochet of a save off Robin Vezinhet's shot to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. David Tayau added to the score in the 23rd minute, propelling the team to a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Hyde of halves started in the 48th minute as Pikeville scored a goal to cut into the lead. The game became tied in the 57th minute and the opponents took the lead in the 71st minute on a penalty kick. Shot attempts by Tayau and Julien Withrow did not find the net in the final few minutes of the game.
Tennessee Wesleyan (5-6, 4-3 AAC) will go back on the road for a conference game against Montreat College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
