ATHENS, Tenn.- The men's soccer team scored four goals for the second consecutive game in picking up an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) win. Tennessee Wesleyan shut out the Johnson University Royals 4-0 at the TWU Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Two of the first four goals for the Bulldogs came in the first half. Cameron Grooms got Tennessee Wesleyan on the board in the eighth minute of the contest. In the 27th minute, Julian Withrow scored off assists by Nicko Bellot and Jake Fisher to make the team's lead 2-0 at the halftime break.
The final two goals were scored 1:46 apart deep in the second half. Logan Thompson converted passes from Robin Vezinhet and David Tayau into the team's third goal of the game. Vezinhet got in on the scoring action, taking a pass from Sifiso Ngwenya and turning it into a goal in the 78th minute to give the team the four-goal cushion they won with.
Kasper Ulfarsson got the win in the net for the Bulldogs.
TWU (3-3, 2-1 AAC) goes back on the road for their next conference contest against Truett McConnell University on Wednesday. The game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
