Men's Lacrosse Falls in Overtime to No. 6 SCAD Savannah

ATHENS, Tenn.- The men's lacrosse team fell in overtime on Thursday. TWU played the sixth-ranked SCAD Savannah Bees, falling in overtime 13-12. 

The teams exchanged the first four goals of the game on the way to a 2-2 tie. Madden Leslie and Kennedy Moore scored the goals for the Bulldogs. Reece Ringer broke the tie while Jack Driscoll gave TWU a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Goals were sparse in the second quarter. The two teams combined to just score two goals in the defense filled quarter. SCAD Savannah scored the first goal of the quarter. Jesse Zeigler scored the other goal of the quarter with 8:25 left until halftime, making the score 5-3 in favor of Tennessee Wesleyan.

Out of the halftime break, the Bulldogs scored the first three goals, all in a two minute span. Ringer started the scoring at the 13:44 mark while Leslie scored with 12:42 and 11:45 on the clock, moving the team's lead to 8-3. The momentum shifted though as SCAD Savannah scored the final three goals of the third quarter, moving the score to 8-6. 

After exchanging goals to open the fourth quarter, the opponents scored five consecutive goals to take a 12-9 lead with 4:20 left. Three straight goals helped the Bulldogs battle back, forcing overtime as the score was tied 12-12 at the end of regulation. 

Unfortunately, the opponents were the first to score in the sudden death overtime period, taking the win 13-12.

Jack Shaw finished with 16 saves in the net. Ringer and Leslie both led the offense with three goals.

Up next for the Bulldogs is a road trip to play the newest conference opponents, Columbia College, for the first time in program history. The game is set for Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
