Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 6 Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.- The men's lacrosse team went on the road to face the University of the Cumberlands Patriots in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game on Saturday. The team fell to the No. 6 Patriots 21-10.

TWU took the momentum early as the Bulldogs scored the first two goals of the game. Micah Decloedt scored the first goal 29 seconds into the game. Madden Leslie followed to give Tennessee Wesleyan a 2-0 lead. Cumberlands stole the momentum though, scoring the next 10 goals, seven of which were scored before the end of the first quarter. 

Jack Driscoll scored a goal to stop the scoring spree. The opponents scored one more goal in the second quarter. Colton Winsick and Leslie scored before the end of the second quarter, making the score 11-5 at halftime.

Over the first six minutes of third quarter, the teams exchanged goals. Kennedy Moore and Micah Decloedt scored for the Bulldogs, making the score 13-7. Cumberlands scored five of the last six goals in the third quarter, giving them a 18-8 lead to begin the fourth quarter. Moore scored the Bulldogs final goal of the third quarter.

TWU would not be able to form a come back as they only scored two more times in the game. Winsick opened the scoring in the fourth quarter while Driscoll followed with a goal five minutes later. 

Jack Shaw, who finished with 13 saves in the net, became the all-time saves leader in program history during the game.
